Interesting things about Phoebe 😊:

  • In 2018 I shared the stage in the Crouch End Festival where I sang my original songs and was accompanied by my grandmother who flew from Toronto to accompany me as my pianist on stage. It is one of my most treasured memories.

  • I enjoy and write spoken word. I performed my poem “I’m not just another Asian” in secondary school as my dance teacher was touched and was inspired to create a composition of choreography as I read my poem. The lines of my poem replaced music as talented dancers moved to the sound of my voice, drawing the audience and even leading people to tears as I voiced the struggle as a member of an ethnic minority.

  • When I return to Myanmar I volunteer at orphanages and sing to the children as well as teach English, donate clothes, resources and toys. This brings me happiness as I love how my music evokes warmth and joy in the faces of people I sing for.

  • I look up to artists such as Adele and Jessie J who inspired me when I was younger. I am drawn to soul and jazz music and love artists such as Aretha Franklin.

  • I am a diverse artist as I am a jack of all trades, I also hope to use my platform to empower young women from similar ethnic backgrounds as well as bring joy to people.
